In Search of the Perfect Pinky Ring
I am currently in the market for a pinky ring. There, I said it.
My wife thinks it’ll look girly and doesn’t want me to get one.
When I grew up in Bensonhurst Brooklyn all the guys I
admired had one…to go along with their z cavariccis and
Iroc Z.
At this point I think I’m going to have one custom-made with
carnary diamonds and platinum. Yes, this will be a Gotti ring.
What is the moral of this story?
I really don’t care about stereotypes. In fact, I occasionally wear
a “woman’s” pendant. A lot of people get caught up in
worrying what their friends, neighbors and relatives will think.
I have news. They don’t think and even if they did, it wouldn’t
matter. Worrying about the opinion of others is how a lot of
folks got to owing big-time on credit cards. Buying designer clothes,
bags, big screen tv’s, etc.
Perhaps you haven’t been guilty of this, but I’m sure you know
someone who is. ;)
Pursing Your Life’s Passion
It wasn’t until 2002 that I joined Toastmasters and realized
that my passion was speaking in front of crowds.
I can think back to a few times when I had spoken in front of
crowds before that and got lots of applause, sat down shaking,
heart pumping excited. It had just never occurred to me that
was my calling.
I always find it amusing to ask someone what their college
major was and what profession they are currently in. It is
rarely a match!
There are some that would say that you are crazy to think that
there is a way to make a living doing what you love. I’m
here to say that if you are truly passionate about your dream, that
the universe wouldn’t be so cruel as to give you a dream
without a way to accomplish it.
Everything you need is already here. You just need to become
open to accept and receiving them. |
